Career Prospects

The degree programme Medicine aims at educating medical doctors capable of entering residency programmes or having necessary skills to provide emergency aid and health care services under the supervision of a physician.
After completing medical degree programme, graduates are eligible to apply for the license of a medical doctor, which allows to independently practice primary medicine or work in team with other doctors.

Modules

  • Year 1: Anatomy, Histology, Genetics, Physics, Chemistry, Lithuanian Language
  • Years 2 – 3: Reproduction and Inheritance, Professional Competence, Basics of Neurosciences, Immune Response and Infection, Respiration and Circulation, Metabolism and Homeostasis, Basics of Preclinical Studies and Locomotion, Lithuanian Language
  • Years 4 – 6: Clinical Modules, Clinical Medical Practice
PRACTICE IN LITHUANIA AND ABROAD
Studies of the most important clinical subjects take place in Kaunas clinics. Practical skills are gained in the hospital, through the practice of special medical modules, and in the sixth year of study – during clinical medicine practice. It is also possible to practice abroad: agreements have been signed with foreign hospitals. ERASMUS+ and other exchange programs give possibilities to study or practice in foreign universities and clinics.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements
International students could be admitted into the English programme of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences if they provide the legalized high school or college certificate and transcript (officially translated into English) and pass the entrance test. Good knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and English is required.

Additional entry requirements
  • Matriculation / School Leaving Certificate approved by the governmental authorities in English or an authorized translation into English
  • Transcripts of high school/ senior secondary school verifying successful completion of Biology and Chemistry. For Health Psychology study programme – Mathematics and Biology
  • Motivation letter
  • Passport or ID
  • One passport-type photograph (3×4 cm)
  • Application fee 150 EUR (non-refundable)

English language requirements

  • Certificate proving the knowledge of English language: TOEFL – minimum 65 points (iBT); IELTS – above 5.5 points; PTE Academic – minimum score of between 55 – 67, Duolingo  – minimum score 95,  or other academic certificate confirming the knowledge of English language at minimum B1 level (CEFR) or similar
